Our Purpose

We help staff in mission-driven organizations move from AI awareness to confident, responsible, everyday use, and grow from there.

Participating funders offer membership to Springboard AI to their grantees, at no cost to the nonprofits. The first step on the membership journey is a live 90-minute virtual training built for the social sector. It continues with our Member Learning Platform, live sessions on special topics, advanced courses, and regular updates to help members keep pace as AI changes.

And anyone in the sector can use Navigator, our free AI-powered guide to nonprofit AI resources. (Coming soon!)

For Funders

Funders expect grantees to achieve maximum impact, and that’s hard to do if they aren’t using AI effectively. It takes effort to get them started. One workshop rarely changes how people work. New habits take practice, support, and reminders over time.

Springboard AI is built to provide both:

A proven live session that moves staff from reluctance to action

Ongoing membership designed to help them keep building skills and using AI productively and responsibly after the session

When you sponsor your grantees, their staff become Springboard AI members, with full access to training, the Member Learning Platform, and live programs for 12 months. You'll also receive reporting on participation, satisfaction, and engagement across your portfolio.

A Proven Approach

Our 2025 field scan of 25 nonprofit leaders, AI trainers, and funders found that while

71% of nonprofit staff were aware of AI, only 40–50% were using it at all and just 10% were using it effectively.

The #1 barrier wasn’t technical: it was the absence of inspiration, permission, and powerful examples.

So we set out to do something about it.

During our 2026 pilot, designed and delivered by PLAI and fiscally sponsored by Forward Global, over 500 nonprofit professionals attended one of four 90- minute virtual sessions with attendance ranging from 100 to 240.

The results:

Session quality rated 9/10
6 in 7 participants showed measurable gains in AI confidence, with the effects seen at all expertise levels
More than 9 in 10 non-users reported high intent to use AI in their work within the week

The pilot showed that a single session can spark real change. Now we’re helping people turn that spark into lasting practice with Springboard AI membership.

Responsible by Design

We take seriously the concerns many in our sector have about AI, including existential threats, environmental impact, and the concentration of power in a few large companies. We don't ask anyone to set those concerns aside, but we focus our training and resources on the issues we can affect immediately: bias, privacy, confidentiality, and transparency.

We teach and build in our CARE framework (Confidentiality, Accuracy, Reporting, Equity) so staff can use AI in ways responsibly and consistent with their organization's values.
